Listed below are some of the commissions that Dwayne Harty has created.

  • “Prairie Homestead” diorama. Western Development Museum, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. 2005
  • Series of fourteen paintings reproduced in an edition size of 450. Distributed across North America.
  • Commissions for the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. Costa Rican Rainforest Canopy diorama (26’ high x 115’ around x 24’ deep) for permanent natural history gallery. Diorama depicting the flora and fauna of the Caribbean slopes of the Rara Avis sanctuary in Costa Rica. Regina, Saskatchewan.  Completed 2001.
  • Commission - Royal Saskatchewan Museum.  Monarch butterfly diorama (12’ high x 18’ around x 6’ deep) for permanent natural history gallery. Diorama depicting the largest and tallest waterfalls in Saskatchewan. Regina, Saskatchewan. Completed 2000.
  • Commission.  Nova Scotia Wildlife Federation conservation stamp. Moose painting “ Woodland Tapestry” used as stamp image.
  • Commission.  Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters’ Fish and Wildlife Conservation Stamp.  Oil painting titled “River Otter” used as stamp image.  1998.
  • Commission- Algonquin Park Visitor Center. Rock Lake diorama (12’ high x 16’ around x 5’ deep) for permanent natural history gallery. Diorama depicting shoreline habitat of Rock Lake including cow and calf moose.  Algonquin Park, Ontario.  Completed 1999.
  • Commission- Friends of Algonquin.  Nine paintings of Algonquin Park wildlife to be used as promotional fundraising posters.  Algonquin Park, Canada.  1997.
  • Commission- Royal Canadian Mint. Four coins depicting the Peregrine Falcon. Minted as currency for the platinum collector’s series.  Ottawa, Canada. 1996.
  • Commission- Royal Canadian Mint. Four coins depicting young animals: moose, black bear, cougar, and wood duck. Mint as currency for the 50 cents collector series.  Ottawa Canada.  1996.
  • Commission-Wildlife Habitat Canada.  selected in 1996 federal Duck Stamp and Print artist.  Image to feature goldeneye ducks: “Georgian Bay Goldeneyes” oil painting (42” x 54”).  Ottawa, Canada. 1996.
  • Commission- Royal Saskatchewan Museum. Arctic diorama (12’ high x 42’ around x 10’ deep) for permanent natural history gallery. Diorama depicting  the flora and fauna of the Mackenzie Delta on the Beaufort Sea.  Regina, Saskatchewan. Fieldwork out of Inuvik, N.W.T.  Completed 1995.
  • Commission- Parry Sound Masonic Lodge. Two oil paintings depicting moose and white tailed deer. Parry Sound, Ontario.  1995.
  • Contract for Joseph A Wetzel & Associates. To depict flora and fauna of Wichita Mountains Park in Oklahoma for publications.  Boston, Mass.  1994.

  • Commission- Muskoka Animal Artist Exhibition Inc., 1995. Limited edition fundraising litho using “Algonquin Wolves” painting. Edition 300. Huntsville, Ontario. 1995.
  • UNICEF.  Consideration for UNITED NATIONS Children’s Fund card program.  1996.
  • Commission to design logo insignia for CHLO radio station. St. Thomas, Ontario.
  • Commission- Wye Marsh Conservation Centre.  Prepare four 8 feet by 12 feet seasonal marsh murals. Midland, Ontario.  1994.
  • Commission for new Algonquin Park Museum.  Decorative mural of bull, cow and calf moose, 12 feet high by 26 feet long.
  • Commission for new Algonquin Park Museum to open on Park Centennial May 1993.  Two year commission to design and execute five life size natural history dioramas: Hardwood forest floor- Spring flowers, Coniferous forest floor- Early Summer Flowers, Spruce Bog- Wolf Pack Formation, Hardwood forest- Doe and Fawn Whitetail Deer, Winter in Algonquin- Scavengers on Winter Deer Kill.  1991-1993.
  • Resignation as Chief Dioramist with Saskatchewan Museum of Natural History, Regina, Saskatchewan.  Permanent position held since April 1987.  Resignation September 1990.
  • Commission- Royal Ontario Museum.  Design and execute Ontario Wetlands dioramas for new Ornithology Gallery. Featuring Long Point and Tundra Swans. 1989. One year leave of absence.
  • World Wildlife Fund, New York. Design four postage stamps and cachet paintings.   Nubian Ibex, Oman 1991. Columbian Bush Dog, 1989.
  • Commission.  Saskatchewan Wildlife Habitat Trust Fund stamp and print. 1989.
  • Appointment as official artist for 1989 Winnipeg Panda Bear Visit and sponsored trip to Washington National Zoo to study and sketch Hsing Hsing and Ling Ling.
  • Design and execute miniature scale dioramas for the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. Each diorama measures 6’ high x 9’ around x 3’ deep. Dioramas depict the flora and fauna of the Cretaceous, Oligocene, Miocene and Pleistocene eras for the permanent Earth History gallery. Regina, Saskatchewan.  Completed 1987-1989.
  • Chief Dioramist. Saskatchewan Museum of Natural History.  Permanent position. April 1987.
  • Contract employment for the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto. Design and execute full-size Hardwood Forest diorama as part of phase I of the new Mammalogy Gallery.  1985-86.
  • Consultant for Valdo Associates, Toronto.  Exhibit design for the Mystic Indian Museum in Mystic, Connecticut. 1986.
  • World Wildlife Fund, New York. Design and complete four postal stamps for the country of Kampuchea: Asian Water Buffalo, Gaur, Banteng, and Kouprey.  Four additional cachet paintings. 1986.
  • World Wildlife fund, New York. Four cachet paintings of Red Lecher. Botswana stamps 1988.
  • Consultant for Tucker Communications, Inc. Display exhibits for Stonewall Quarry Museum, Stonewall, Manitoba. 1984
  • Contract employment for the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto. Design and execute scale models for future dioramas to be part of the new Mammalogy gallery. 1983-83.
  • Saskatchewan Government Department of Parks and Renewable Resources. Series of five big game paintings. Paintings were printed in limited numbers to be given as gift to visiting dignitaries.  1981.
  • Ducks unlimited, Regina, Saskatchewan. Paintings for head office. 1982.
  • Diplomat Restaurant, Regina, Saskatchewan. Portraits of the Prime Ministers of Canada.  1981.
