Background

Born in 1957 in the western plain of Canada just north of the Montana border in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Dwayne went to the Art Student league in his early twenties in New York (1977-1978). It leads him to meet the Dean of American animal artists Paul Bransom that year in New York City.

Between 1975 and 1982, Dwayne spent his summer, July to October, at the Okanagan Summer School of the Arts, wildlife drawing classes with Clarence Tillenius as instructor and for through the year in Santa Fe, New Mexico with American western and wildlife artist, Robert Lougheed. In 1984, Dwayne attended Bob Kuhn Workshop, Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Dwayne worked with the following artists: Tom Lovell, John Clymer, George McLean, Paul Strisik, Wilson Hurley, Wayne Wolfe, and Jan Sharkey Thomas. Among his classmate in the Art Student league are Steven Kidd, David Leffel, Thomas Fogarty Jr., Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle.
