Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale

2004 Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale

“The vast open prairie range was the inspiration for this painting. It was once home to seemingly endless herds of bison. Though their numbers and native habitat are much diminished, the saga of the bison's return is close to all who love the West.”

Dwayne Harty is an avid outdoorsman and a wildlife artist living and working in Billings, Montana. As a boy he frequently accompanied his father on camping and hunting trips. His early affinities for wildlife and art first led him to a correspondence course in taxidermy at age eleven, then later into the world of fine art. His formal art studies began at the Art Students League in New York City, followed by a four-year apprenticeship in Santa Fe with Western master artist Robert Lougheed.

Harty has exhibited at Western Visions: Miniatures and More at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, the Prix de West Invitational, and Masters of the American West. He is a member of the Explorers Club, Salmagundi Club, and the Society of Animal Artists, each based in New York City. He often teaches and lectures on topics related to wildlife art.
